MediaPodium reflects the expertise of
its founder, Mark Undeberg. After fifteen years of classroom
instruction and curriculum development, Undeberg formed
a copywriting company in 1995. A former composition
instructor, he hoped to promote the benefits of concise
yet communicative language in a marketplace that had
come to value the “digital” over the “legible."
He contracted with Microsoft to write high-quality articles
for Encarta Encyclopedia. For the next two
years he researched, edited, and wrote thousands of
pieces for Microsoft educational products. When the
Internet began to drive powerful new technologies, Undeberg
was drawn by the potential that eLearning offered.
In 1997, he joined a handful of people in forming what
would become AdvanceOnline, the first environmental
health and safety training company to focus exclusively
on Web-based training. During the next four years, Undeberg
was instrumental in conducting learning management system
(LMS) needs analysis, in creating both courseware and
marketing materials, and in developing business alliances
for the company. In 2001, Undeberg left AdvanceOnline
to start a firm that would re-define the roles of conventional
and emerging communications media. MediaPodium aims
to empower companies to create unique learning solutions
by blending the best of tradition with the promise of
technology.
